The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi) is one of India’s premier institutions for education, research, and development in science, engineering, and technology. Established initially as the College of Engineering in 1961, it was later renamed IIT Delhi and declared an Institution of National Importance under the “Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 1963.” The foundation stone was laid by H.R.H. Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, in 1959, and the institute formally started its academic activities in August 1961. Since its inception, it has grown significantly and celebrated its Golden Jubilee in 2011 and Diamond Jubilee in 2021.

Eligibility
- Ph.D. with first class in Water Resources Engineering/ Atmospheric Sciences/Geosciences/Geomatics/ Computer Science /or related fields or equivalent at the preceding degree in the appropriate discipline.
- OR M.Tech. 1st class or equivalent with 6 years’ experience.
